Welcome to my blog on the 'Fit for 30' challenge. A simple premise that is summed up in the title. My aim is to get fit by 30.
Forget all the half hearted new years resolutions, and good will gestures that so many of us make to ease our inflamed biological conscience. I aim to wholly and irrecoverably change my lifestyle and eating habits in a quest for a simpler, healthier, happier life.
As a writer I spend many hours at my desk, reading, writing, and drinking coffee; but more importantly eating badly and not exercising. It's a habit that is so easy to fall into and very difficult to break away from. Many years of this has taken its toll on my body. I'm overweight, sluggish, and not feeling good.
I have tried joining gyms, but find I attend for a few weeks, maybe a month, before finding excuses not to go. I have tried eating salads and brown rice, chocking them down for a week before giving up entirely. All of these half hearted approaches have, in the past, left me feeling crappy and demotivated.
But no more. Now I'm taking this seriously. I don't sleep well, suffer silly aches and pains, and am quick to take ill. And all of this is caused by my bad lifestyle.
The decision to blog about it has been spurred on by a friend who is doing the same thing. His musings and progress can be found at Oppose/Edit.
David has taken the concept of editing written work and applied it to life in general; an idea that I love, and hopefully an action that I have enough experience of to be able to achieve.
I shall be using BodyRock.TV to plan and organise my workouts. I have been very impressed by what the team are doing there, and am sure I wouldn't be able to tackle the Fit for 30 challenge without them.
I hope you find my ramblings interesting, and dare I hope they inspire you to make a positive change in your life too.
